What is Fawran?
Fawran is a smart and secure payment system launched by the Qatar
Central Bank, which enables its users to make instant 24/7 local
transfers. By registering using your mobile number or Nickname,
you can use the Fawran service through the Ahlibank Mobile app.
What is a Nickname?
A Nickname is another option to register your account in Fawran. It is
alpha numeric with 3-20 characters starting with alphabet without any
special characters, created by the customer at the time of registration. It
can be shared with another Fawran user to receive money on your
account.
What is the maximum limit of each transaction? How many transactions can I do via Fawran?
You can transfer up to QAR 35,000 per transaction. You may do 5 transactions per day and 30 transactions per month with a maximum of QAR 70,000 for a day and QAR 400,000 for a month.

What is a Fawran account?
It is the registered account in the Fawran platform which will be linked with your mobile number or Nickname or IBAN used at the time of registration. Only one account can be linked with the mobile number or Nickname in the Fawran system. For linking your Ahlibank account, please follow the registration process as mentioned in point number 4. If you have multiple bank accounts, only one account can be linked to your mobile number at one time; for other accounts, you will have to use different Nicknames to add the accounts on the Fawran platform.
What happens when my mobile number is changed?
Please update the mobile number in the bank records and also re-register your account with the new mobile on Fawran platform by logging in to the Ahlibank Online Banking or Mobile App and choosing the “Register” option, or you can edit the mobile number under the “Manage” option. You need to deregister your old mobile number from Fawran.
What happens if the transfer is initiated on a weekend or holidays?
Fawran transactions will be processed 24/7 unless there is any downtime by participating banks or the Fawran platform, both of which will be communicated via Fawran notifications.
How do I remove my mobile number or Nickname from Fawran services?
You can remove your registered mobile or Nickname linked to your Ahlibank account in Fawran via Ahlibank Online Banking or Mobile App.
- Once you log in, select Fawran from the three-line menu and click on the “Manage” option
- The system will list your accounts linked with the registered mobile number or Nicknames with “Edit” or “Suspend” buttons
- Click on “Edit” and select “Delete” to remove your mobile number or Nickname from the Fawran platform
How do I temporarily suspend sending / receiving money via Fawran?
You can suspend your registered mobile number or Nickname linked to your Ahlibank account in Fawran via Ahlibank Online Banking or Mobile App.
- Once you login, select Fawran from the three-line menu and click on the "Manage” option
- The system will list your accounts linked with the registered mobile number or Nicknames with “Edit” or “Suspend” buttons
- Click on “Suspend” and confirm to temporary suspension
- You can re-activate by selecting the “Activate” button from the same screen
